The rumors are flying again about the iPhone maybe just possibly perhaps coming to Verizon again. This time, the date is said to be next January. The usual analysts are telling us what a good (or bad) deal this will be for (fill in the blanks here). The rumors have always fallen through before, but this time, we are told - again - they could really be happening. MediaPost thinks it could be credible this time.
Well, OK. But what does that mean to me? Currently, I use a Droid, quite happily, because Verizon is the service that works best where I live. AT&T is useless to me at home, which is where I do 90% of my work anyway. So an iPhone has never been an option. And there's a new Droid coming out later this month.
So what do I do? Should I wait until January (if the rumor IS, eventually, confirmed)? I'm inclined to think...no. My Droid may not have 100,000 apps. I can't use 100,000 apps. If the Android system continues to build its user base as rapidly as it has been doing, there will be lots more apps coming for my Droid.
But there is certainly the coolness factor of the iPhone to be considered.
So what should I do? Upgrade to the new Droid? Wait for the iPhone?
Advice is both welcomed and solicited.
Makes me sick just thinking of all the money Apple is losing without Verizon customers. what is wrong w/these Cupertineos?? Have they been sniffing Silicon too much?? I refuse to purchase a new phone to only have to drop it like a hot potato the moment Verizon's iPhone is released. But WILL it?? Meanwhile, my old Palm Centro must suffice. As much I, like you, despise AT&T for their incredibly lousy service, I am so jealous of those carrying ANY version of the iPhone. So we watch the press and wait. I've heard rumor that the WHITE iPHONE, the one not yet released, is destined for Verizon. no,
