Having spent more than 30 years as a journalist and editor, this one really bugs me.
Let's say you're an editor at McClatchy's Washington Bureau. You know - and honestly can't understand - why so many people insist that journalists are only interested in bad news, particularly from Iraq. You honestly can't understand why people see bias where you see only a straightforward attempt to come up with interesting stories.
And along comes a story about dramatic decreases in the killings in Iraq.
Mickey Kaus over at Slate's Kausfiles is right - it really does sound like The Onion, doesn't it?
