Gotta Get More Stats

All right, let's be fair. If you're a company like eMarketer, which puts out a newsletter every day with new (and often quite valuable) statistics, the stats have to come from somewhere, right? I mean, after a while, some of them are going to be, well, a little superfluous.

And so today, we are advised that 95% of college students go online at least once a month. That's up from 94.3% last year, and is expected to go up to 95.5% this year.

That's the kind of data that could put sleep aids out of business.

I'm reminded of the old Ross-Middleberg studies that used to ask journalists if they used the Internet. They abandoned that question after it became very clear that 95-or-so percent, year after year, were saying "yes." I think this latest study could join that question in honorable retirement.
