Hard on the heels of my last entry (see below), I see that there's a new report from a group called Privacy International blasting Google in particular for its privacy practices.
Take a look at the report for yourself. To me, I'm not sure why Google is picked out as the resident monster - except, of course, that it is by far the largest target out there. Not surprisingly, Google is objecting vehemently to the characterization, and Privacy International seems offended that Google is taking offense. There's a strong defense from Google's Matt Cutts.
I think the last word belongs to the Search Engine Roundtable (which gets the hat tip for this report), which predicts, "I suspect the debate to linger on for a couple weeks and then die down and no one will remember it until a new report is released."
